Alti bleibt!
At 82 km2, the Altdorfer Walt is the largest contiguous forest area in Oberschwaben and is home to more than 200 freshwater springs. The forest is to be cleared for gravel extraction, and to oppose this, environmental activists have been occupying the forest since February 2020. Almost 20 tree houses have been erected at a height of 4-17 meters.
Places of protest arise from a shared conviction, where people protest together, plan actions and philosophize about a common vision of the world. But these places are often more than that. They are places of utopia, where these shared ideas can be lived under a grassroots democratic consensus. This results in a space in which things/people and events find a place that are usually neglected in today's everyday life.
